Behind My Logo
Influences & Process
When designing my logo, I drew inspiration from textile design and the ornamentation found in old books—a reflection of my interest in printing techniques and writing. I wanted to create a monogram-style symbol that embodied my color palette, obsession with texture, and personality.
I explored printing press "J's" and "K's" alongside various decorative symbols from book pages I'd collected on Pinterest. After isolating my chosen elements and arranging them into a basic shape in Photoshop, I felt the design needed more intricacy. Revisiting my process book—developed prior to building this portfolio as a way to discover my personal aesthetic and values—I found a piece of art with an embroidered quality that resonated with me. I then masked my logo and filled it with the image, creating the final design.
